
Education Malaysia Jordan has been established on the 1st of March 1996. It was formerly known as Malaysian Students Centre in Jordan administered by an Education Attaché, and assisted by a Locally Recruited Staff (LRS). It was operated at the Embassy of Malaysia in Jordan. In 2001, the centre was upgraded to the Malaysian Students Department in Jordan and started operating from its own building. On 1st December 2006, EM Jordan moved to its current building in Sweifieh, Amman. Malaysian Students Department Jordan has been rebranded to Education Malaysia Jordan and administered by three Home Based Staff (HBS) and five Locally Recruited Staff (LRS).
Administratively, EM Jordan is a division of Ministry of Education Malaysia that operates under the Embassy of Malaysia in The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Apart from Jordan, EM Jordan also handles students’ affairs in Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and Syria. EM Jordan is responsible for ensuring the successful achievements of the Malaysia Education Development Plan (PPPM) and the National Higher Education Strategic Plan (NHESP) in order to transform Malaysian Higher Education by 2020.
